A Little Something

Good morning friends! As I mentioned in my last post, life has been a bit hectic lately. One of the things that helps me to relax is to shop...all by myself : ) Maybe it's the introvert in me, but there's something about browsing for a few hours without much thought of time or need for conversation that I find really soothing.

Now, that could be a bit dangerous for my wallet. But most of the time I simply enjoy just getting out and enjoying some alone time while taking in the products and displays.

While I was enjoying my shopping ritual the other day, I did come across one thing I just couldn't leave behind. The large potted orchid seemed like it was made for my house, or more specifically, for my bedroom.

You should have seen me carrying it all over the store while I browsed, the big flowers flopping about as I walked. But I didn't care...I didn't want anyone else stealing my orchid : )

I think it found a perfect new home on my bedside table. Now that's what I call retail therapy!

What's your favorite way to unwind? Any good tips?

Simplicity

Today I made chocolate chip cookies. Not because I wanted to take pictures for the blog, but just because it just sounded good...easy...simple.

I think I need a little more simple in my life. I realize I've been away from this little blog for almost a month - something rather unusual for me. But I have to tell you that my job is anything but simple right now. In fact it's complex...draining...overwhelming.

I think that's why I've been away. By the time the day's over there's not a lot of creativity left, not to mention energy, words or inspiration. I'm just tired.

But the thing about working for a church is that even when it's demanding, and anything but simple, it's good. It's worth everything. And that's something worth fighting for.

So right now, I may not have a pretty post about a freshly decorated room, or the latest and greatest decor idea that everyone will want to pin...but I do have simple. Good 'ole fashion chocolate chip cookies will do wonders for the soul on even the most trying of days.

So if you're walking through something intense, something scary or sad or draining, my advice to you is get back to the basics. Take a deep breath...let it all go...whip up a batch of cookies...and embrace the simple.
